What is a WINZ payment card?
A WINZ payment card is a reusable green card that works a bit like an EFTPOS card. Work and Income loads money onto the card so you can pay for approved urgent, unexpected, or one-off essential costs. You need to set a PIN before you can use the card, and the money usually needs to be spent within a set timeframe.
Can you use it at Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa?
Yes. We’re an approved Work and Income supplier. This means you can use a WINZ payment card to pay for your appointment. But you do need to apply to WINZ for the funds first.
How to use your card
If your application is approved, money will be loaded onto your payment card and allocated to Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa

Top tips for using your WINZ payment card
If you haven’t got a card already, you’ll need to pick one up
You’ll need to have a PIN set for your card before you can pay with it. You can set this in MyMSD or contact Work and Income for help
Make sure you’ve signed the back of your card before coming to your appointment, as we’ll check your signature against it
Your WINZ payment card can only be used for the cost WINZ has approved, and usually only with the supplier assigned to that payment
It’s a good idea to keep your receipt in case you need to check your balance or follow up with WINZ
Spend the money on the card in the timeframe WINZ has indicated
What will you need to pay?
Some Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa services are free or low-cost depending on your age, residency status, and whether you have a Community Services Card. For example, appointments are free for New Zealand residents under 22, and Community Services Card holders pay just $7.50 for their appointment.
Some services may involve more than one appointment, and prescriptions, devices, or medications may have separate costs.
